Epic Road Trip - Day Two

After enjoying an early breakfast at the hotel, we headed out to see some sites in St. Louis.  Our first stop was to the City Museum, which is an awesome place for kids and adults.  I had been several years ago and decided it would be worth the price to take the kids there.  We got there just as it was opening and for awhile, we pretty much had the place to ourselves.  The girls had a blast running around and climbing on all the different structures.  Emma and Charlotte especially loved the outside area, while Cristina and Ella spent a lot of time playing with clay in the free art area and hanging out in the toddler area.  We all enjoyed the skateless slide room.

Afterwards, we headed over to see the Arch up close and personal.  The girls were so tired out from the City Museum that they didn't have a lot of interest in the Arch.  They did enjoy the Museum of Western Expansion, although Brian and I would have both preferred if they would have taken it at a slower pace, so we could actually read the displays.  We spent a few minutes staring out at the Mississippi River before we loaded up the car to head to Kansas City for dinner.

On our way to Nebraska, we had the opportunity to stop and meet some friends in Kansas City.  Brian wanted to try Kansas City Barbecue, so we enjoyed a delicious dinner with fine company before embarking on the last bit of our journey to North Platte, Nebraska.  Brian and I were both exhausted on the ride and as the hours ticked by, we started playing the road games that I had planned for the kids.  They definitely worked to keep us awake and made the long ride bearable.  When we pulled into the hotel at 3:15 a.m., we were both ready to hit the hay.
